1987 — Where Our Story Began

The story of Translink Express Logistics began in 1987 in Wigston, Leicestershire.

Founded as a family-run parcel delivery business, the company started modestly, with one vehicle and one clear ambition: to provide a transport service built upon reliability, personal attention and efficiency.

Those early principles would become the foundations upon which Translink was built — and remain at the heart of the business to this day.

1989 — Putting Down Roots in Narborough

Just two years after its beginnings, Translink relocated to Narborough, Leicestershire, establishing a permanent home from which the business could continue to grow.

Narborough would go on to become an important part of the Translink story and the heart of its expanding operations.

The 1990s — Building a Reputation

Throughout the 1990s, Translink grew steadily and with purpose.

The fleet increased, new customers placed their trust in the company, and Translink began establishing a reputation for dependable service and a genuinely hands-on approach.

While the logistics industry continued to evolve, Translink remained true to the qualities upon which it had been founded: knowing its customers, understanding their businesses and delivering a level of personal service that larger carriers could rarely match.

2004 — Becoming a Founder Member of Pallet-Track

A significant chapter in Translink's history came in 2004, when the company became a Founder Member of the Pallet-Track distribution network.

The partnership opened the door to an enhanced nationwide next-day pallet delivery service, giving Translink the reach of a national network while preserving the local knowledge, accountability and personal service its customers had come to value.

It represented an important step forward — extending Translink's reach without losing sight of its roots.

2009 — A New Chapter on Mortimer Road

In 2009, Translink made one of the most significant investments in its history, moving into a purpose-built facility on Mortimer Road in Narborough.

The new premises provided the infrastructure and space required for the next stage of the company's development, laying the foundations for larger-scale logistics and warehousing operations.

What had begun with a single vehicle little more than two decades earlier was becoming a comprehensive logistics operation.

The 2010s — Expanding Our Capabilities

The following decade brought a period of considerable expansion.

Through the acquisition of neighbouring buildings and continued investment in modern warehousing technology, the Narborough operation grew to encompass more than 66,000 sq ft.

Translink's services evolved alongside it. From its beginnings in express parcel delivery, the company developed a comprehensive logistics offering encompassing full-load transport, groupage, warehousing and international logistics solutions.

Yet as the scale of the operation changed, the principles behind it did not.

2020 — Three Generations, One Family Business

By 2020, the family story that began in 1987 had reached another proud milestone, with three generations of the founding family actively involved in the business.

Alongside them stood a dedicated and experienced team, collectively bringing more than 350 years of logistics experience to Translink and its customers.

It was a fitting reflection of what the company had become: a business shaped not simply by vehicles, buildings and freight, but by the generations of people who had helped build it.

2024 — Continuing to Raise Standards

In 2024, Translink achieved FORS Bronze accreditation, recognising the company's continued commitment to fleet safety, operational efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Nearly four decades after its first vehicle took to the road, Translink continued to invest in the standards required for the future of transport and logistics.

2025 — A Landmark Year

In 2025, another milestone was written into the company's history when Translink secured a £5 million, five-year contract with Ramon Hygiene Products — the largest contract in the company's history.

The agreement demonstrated just how far the business had travelled since 1987 and reflected Translink's ability to provide complete, end-to-end logistics solutions for major national customers.

2026 — Preparing for the Next Chapter

As Translink approached its 40th anniversary, 2026 marked one of the most significant periods of growth and transformation in the company’s history.

Following record growth of almost 32% in just two years, Translink strengthened its senior leadership team with four key appointments, creating a new management structure designed to carry the business confidently into its next chapter.

The year also brought major investment in the company’s operations. Plans were unveiled to transform the 66,000 sq ft Narborough headquarters into one of Leicestershire’s largest indoor palletised freight sortation centres, while Translink’s expanding warehousing portfolio grew to 170,000 sq ft across its sites.

A new low-carbon 3PL facility in Lutterworth further demonstrated the company’s commitment to investing not only in growth, but in a more efficient and sustainable future.

From one vehicle and one driver in 1987 to handling more than 1,500 pallets every day, 2026 represented another defining moment in the Translink story — honouring nearly four decades of progress while laying the foundations for the generations still to come.

  Translink Express Logistics remains proudly independent and family-run, operating from the same Leicestershire roots from which its story began.

The business may have grown from one vehicle to a comprehensive logistics operation, but the values established in those earliest days remain unchanged:
